Conquer your fears and enjoy your holiday

Are you really looking forward to going on holiday this summer but dreading the flight? You lie awake the night before, excited about your holiday, but dreading the familiar fear that you know arriving at the airport will bring. As you board the plane, all you can think of are the pictures in tomorrow’s paper of the smashed wreck of your plane. You try to convince yourself that everything is fine, but you are aware of every creak and groan as you head down the runway. Take-off is almost unbearable and turbulence sends you into a panic. If you can just survive this flight……..

Of course, you do survive. Flying is the safest form of travel. A recent study estimated that you’d need to fly non-stop for 36,000 years before you may be involved in an accident. However, no matter how much you know this at a rational level, still the fear remains.

Fear of flying can be difficult to control because it is unconscious, and therefore needs to be treated at an unconscious level. Hypnotherapy can do this. Our brains are far more powerful than we sometimes realize, and perhaps 90% of our thought processes are unconscious. By relaxing you and allowing communication with your unconscious mind, hypnotherapy is effective at treating fears such as this because it allows your unconscious mind to become receptive to positive changes.

During the hypnotherapy session the therapist helps you to enter a state of deep relaxation to allow communication with your unconscious mind. You will feel extremely relaxed, but always in control of your actions, since your mind remains active, alert and aware. It feels like daydreaming, and is not at all like stage hypnosis.

Fear of flying can often be successfully treated in only one or two sessions each lasting about an hour. The unconscious causes of your fear are examined and positive suggestions are used to find new ways to deal with your feelings, allowing you to overcome your fears, and fly comfortably, without fear.

When you awake, you may not even realise a change has taken place – but it has. You’ll sleep much better the night before your flight, and on arriving at the airport, your stress, irritability and worry will be gone. Finally you can enjoy the freedom of international travel.
