Recent figures estimate that one in ten people suffers from a fear of flying. Ironically, this very mode of transport is becoming an everyday means of travel for many, and an essential part of our work and personal lives.

'Conquering Your Fear of Flying' is a positive and ultimately empowering book to help people overcome what is one of the most prevalent fears in today's fast-moving world, and one which often means pure terror for the sufferer. Dr Maeve Byrne Crangle examines and confronts the many types of anxiety involved with flying and lays out a plan to help conquer these apprehensions, which can often mean pure terror for the sufferer. She outlines a programme of self-management, showing how to use stress management techniques to cope and defuse our anxieties before and during flights.

Also included are chapters on basic aerodynamics, explanations of the many engine noise changes during the flight, turbulence, and how flight crews are selected and trained for emergencies.Air travel remains statistically safer than crossing the road, and flying has been proven to be twenty-five times safer than driving your own car.

'Conquering Your Fear of Flying' is the book to convince even the most faint-hearted flyers of these facts, and to help them towards a happy and fearless future with air travel. (Available from all good bookshops and Amazon.co.uk.- to order, please click on the logo below.

Flying without Fear - by Captain Keith Godfrey

The book “Flying without Fear” is a down to earth easy to read book that addresses the needs of anxious flyers, and has helped countless people to go flying without fear.

The author has written the book around the hundreds of questions that he was asked by anxious passengers during his long career with British Airways, and in interviews with nervous flyers during his retirement.

The book emphasizes the normality of flying; it debunks many popular myths and swaps them for facts, yet remains humorous, easy to read and compelling.

The answers to the questions are relevant, simple to understand and completely honest.

Importantly it has none of the technical slant that so many pilot written books often have, instead the explanations are simple but thorough, understandable and never condescending.

Now in its second reprint it’s www.amazon.co.uk UK’s best seller in the category - Price £8.99

PRESS RELEASE - EX-FIGHTER PILOT RELEASES FIRST BOOK

Ex-RAF Fighter Pilot, Tug Wilson has just released his first book, “The Nervous Passenger’s Guide to Flying.” The book explains in very simple terms all of those questions that fuel the fears of nervous flyers.

Tug (real name Roy Wilson) was born and raised in Thirsk, North Yorkshire before joining the Royal Air Force in 1985 as a pilot (where he gained the ubiquitous nickname). He has flown a range of aircraft including the Phantom during the first Gulf War, the Hawk as a flying instructor and the F18 Hornet on exchange with the US Marine Corps. His final flying tour was on the Tornado F3 during which he flew in the Iraq No-Fly zone. Unfortunately Tug was grounded with a heart condition in 2000 but successfully re-trained as a Flight Safety expert gaining a Master’s Degree in Air Safety and becoming a Flight Safety Advisor to the Royal Saudi Air Force. Following his retirement from the RAF last September, Tug has worked with BAR and Williams Formula 1 racing teams and is now a simulator instructor on the Typhoon aircraft for BAE SYSTEMS.

THE NERVOUS PASSENGER'S GUIDE TO FLYINING - BY TUG WILSON

THE NERVOUS PASSENGER'S GUIDE TO FLYINING - BY TUG WILSON

Tug’s inspiration for writing his book stemmed from the constant questions he was asked by other passengers on airliners whenever they found out that he was a pilot. The usual questions were, “Is it safe?” “What keeps the aeroplane up?” “What’s that noise?” and “Why do we get turbulence?” Unfortunately all the books currently available explain these things in such a technical way, that they tend to bamboozle the average reader. Tug’s approach to this is much more relaxed, almost as if you can imagine him talking directly to you whilst sitting on the aeroplane.

The book is written in a humorous conversational style in order to relax the reader such that they enjoy the whole flying experience. There are a number of simple diagrams to help explain the mildly complicated bits and Tug draws on his vast experience as a pilot to do this. Topics that are covered include take off, approach and landing, how aeroplanes fly, the weather (including the dreaded turbulence) and safety as well as a whole host of other subjects.

The Nervous Passenger’s Guide to Flying - ISBN 0-9546774-0-4 is available directly from RAW92 Publishing at 63 Stapleton Close, Bedale, North Yorkshire, DL8 2UA, at a price of £6.99 plus £2 postage and packing.
